Tomie Seo BFA

Brief bio:
Tomie Seo was born in Sapporo, Japan. She studied design and Illustration at Hokkaido College of Art and Design for 2 years and after she finished her study at the school, she moved to Chicago, United States to pursue her study of art at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Having studied her B.F.A at SAIC, she moved to Brooklyn, NY. She is going to attend a B.F.A program at Hunter College starting this Fall 2008 and is seeking her future as a New York based artist.

Artist's statement:
My work concerns our lives, people in the world. My reward always comes from the moment when people realize or discover something that are too ambiguous
or subtle to get during our daily lives by seeing or experiencing my creation. The theme of my work varies; huge subjects such as social matters and small
subjects; like individual daily- life experiences.
Currently I have been seeking putting the concept of journalism into my work; like a journalist but whose method of telling things to people is
not writing but ART while utilizing its beauty and amusing form. My future works will more shift into this so-called 'journalism-art' format.
