Linda Mitchell, a native Atlantan, has been exhibiting her paintings and sculptures locally and nationally for over 20 years.  Exhibits in Georgia include Mason Murer, The Contemporary,
The High Museum Artful Garden Tour, Callanwolde, Georgia State University, Berry College, Georgia Perimeter College and Macon & Co. National exhibits include Gallery G in Baltimore, Matrix Gallery in Sacramento, Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Portsmouth Museums in Abingdon, VA, and The Art Association and Metropolitan Arts Council of
Birmingham. She holds two MFA’s in Drawing and Painting, and in Sculpure from Georgia State University.  Her awards include two Individual Artist Grants from the City of Atlanta Bureau of Cultural Affairs, an Individual Artist Grant from the Georgia Council for the Arts and the Grand Prize award for the Georgia Artists ‘89 Exhibiton of the Dekalb Council for the Arts. Reviews have been published in Art Papers, The Atlanta Journal, Creative Loafing and The Brimingham News. Her work is found in numerous private and corporate collections.

Artist’s statement:
Solve practical problems with physical objects, and hold the remnants of this life
tighter and tighter until carbon turns to diamond.Alchemy, sift and assemble
the beauty and detritus, with scraps and thread patterns and paint. Bits of personal
history,chewed and spat; ditch the real for the illusion.
