Biblical Illustrations
by Kenneth Kaplowitz

Biblical stories have influenced and inspired us for millennia; they are themes for drawings, paintings and sculpture. Having studied medieval and Renaissance religious art in the United States and Europe, I decided to contribute a Biblical series of my own.

To enhance a sense of antiquity in the final prints, I incorporated qualities found in woodcut and etching. The format also suggests the small prayer books or psalters used in the medieval period for devotional purposes.

Kenneth Kaplowitz is a Professor of Art at The College of New Jersey where he has taught for the past thirty-six years. He has a BA in Art Education from Montclair University, an MA in Communications from New York University and an MFA in Studio Art from Rutgers University.
