“-599”—“警示煙草對人体的危害”國際藝術展
1994年4月，美國五大煙草公司在一份提交給美國政府的健康与公共服務部的報告中，說明了在香煙的工業生產過程中，需要添加高達599种添加劑。
上述五大煙草公司包括：
美洲煙草公司
布朗和威爾曼森公司
李蓋特集体公司
菲利普瑪羅斯公司
R.J．雷納德煙草公司
絕大部分上述添加劑是為了可使人們增加對香煙的依賴程度而添加的。
本藝術展項目的作品征集：
在全球范圍內征集599位藝術家、學生或公眾提供的599位的煙民的肖像畫。參与者可以通過繪畫、素描和攝影的形式來表現這些肖像畫，（煙民包括吸煙者或者是与吸煙有關疾病的受害者，如果藝術家自己也有煙癮，也可以提供自畫像）。
該藝術項目將從全球所有的參与者中選擇599幅藝術作品。這些作品將會提交到“藝術反煙草”网站展覽并進行國際巡回展覽。這個展覽的目的是喚醒公眾認識吸煙的危害，同時也將通過公眾參与的方式呼吁煙草公司在生產香煙的過程中，刪除或大幅減少能夠使人吸煙成癮的化學添加劑。
每一個被選肖像藝術家或參与人士將可象征式刪除599化學添加劑中的一种。
減少使用上述添加劑會讓更多的人能夠擺脫煙癮，也就能夠挽救更多的生命与健康。

作品要求：
“藝術反煙草”是一個2002在年加拿大注冊的非盈利的民間組織。
“藝術反煙草”通過采用更有創意的方法來讓年輕人和公眾意識到吸煙的危害，特別是煙草會導致死亡的高發率，同時該組織也致力于讓更多的公眾參与并支持該項活動。
藝術反煙草不是一個反吸煙組織，它是反菸草; 因為它認為，煙草和捲菸生產是問題的真正來源。

In April of 1994, a list of 599 ingredients were submitted by 5 major American tobacco companies to the US government’s Department of Health and Human Services for use in the manufacturing of cigarettes.
The 5 tobacco companies were:
American Tobacco Company
Brown and Williamson
Liggett Group, Inc.
Philip Morris Inc.
R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company
Most of the ingredients were used for the purpose of getting people addicted or to maintain their addiction to cigarette smoking.
Call for submissions:
Seeking 599 artists, art students and public for submission of portraits of 599 cigarette smokers or tobacco victims who died of tobacco related illnesses.
Every participant is being requested to paint, draw or photograph a cigarette smoker, or a victim of tobacco related illnesses. (Self-portrait is accepted, if the artist happens to be a smoker.)
A total of 599 artworks will be selected for inclusion in an international exhibition and displayed in ARTi-Smoking's website for bringing awareness to danger of tobacco uses and campaign for cigarette companies to reduce ingredients aiming at making people addicted to cigarette smoking.

Less addictive ingredients = less addicted cigarette smokers = less people become ill or die from cigarette smoking

Arti-Smoking uses creative methods and art to enhance youth and public awareness about danger of smoking and the epidemic magnitude of deaths from tobacco uses, as well as gathering public supports to fight the problem.
