Howard Ganz Statement, January 2006

My interest in Organic Design has expanded to include cosmology and quantum
worlds. I am interested in the growth and evolution of form in any domain.

I see a painting as a playing field where I move the colors and shapes
around looking for degrees of  significance and fulfillment in the forms and
processes that occur.

My subjects come, often unplanned, from my thoughts and  experiences. If I
paint every day, then related subjects continue to flow. I might have a
general notion as I start painting or it may come as I work..

In the past few years I have been evolving a language of organic
strength --- toward abstraction and re-formed landscapes. I work to get
beneath the surface of things.  Sometimes working in layers --- making an
initial image and then painting over it with a second layer that learns from
the first one. I often leave some of the initial forms and spaces, but
simplify and reshape as necessary, as I find new insight and new form."

Sometimes there are images in my paintings, often just abstractions, but
perhaps just a mindset or story told in color and form.
